Scratching the surface
Children cower at laughter
Doors sound like gun shots

Left blank on purpose
This left ship sank on purpose
Bereft blank purpose

Haiku conversion (91)

I am sick like a mangy dog
I breathe with straw lungs
Drinking tea like it's the answer

And thinking of the
Magnolia tree
Left behind at the last house
Where it blooms without me now

In my dazed half-sleeps
The cats lounge near my head and
I realize that
Meows are birds' songs
Swallowed before anything else
Throat-stuck, gut-stuck hunter scars

When cats regret their choices
And try to release them
The songs bloom into enormous
Magnolia blossoms
In their chests and throats
And only let a skeletal glimmer
Of the song out

The meow

With vengeful hearts
The cats eat my spider plants
While I try to sleep myself well
Leaving dirt-caked root carcasses
On the kitchen counter

In the early morning
A warm sky embraces
The still earth beneath it
My fever breaks and
The bird holds its breath

I think the cats put something in my tea

It is called "I got a rock"
Pebble birds love you

No tea can find me more air
I breathe with straw lungs

Noticing silence.
Sun beams shift to our new home.
Sound and light adjust.
